Wivenhoe Sailing Club is a vibrant and friendly club, welcoming both dinghy and yacht cruiser sailors. Dinghy races take place on Sundays between April and December with Social Sailing on Saturdays in summer. There is a variety of dinghy classes sailed at Wivenhoe Sailing Club with a focus on vintage and classic dinghies of which the local 15 foot Wivenhoe One Design (WOD) class is popular. Racing is keen for both the WODs and the handicap fleet and often results in close competition. Cruiser races and social cruises are run over the summer months. We have a thriving Cadet section (age 10+) and can provide assistance for adults to learn to sail .

Wivenhoe is a popular and excellent location for cruiser sailors, convenient for continental trips and with local east coast estuaries offering both marina facilities and quiet anchorages. The Club has tidal cruiser moorings for members and is well equipped to enable cruiser sailors to lay-up at the clubhouse and launch using our own slipway.

The Club has a modern Clubhouse with a comfortable bar and lounge to relax in on Friday evenings and after weekend sailing and also hosts social events throughout the year especially during the winter months.

The Club was founded in 1925 by a small group of local yachtsmen and moved to the current premises in 1994.  Click here for an aerial view of the clubhouse.     Another aerial view of the clubhouse.
